It's been roughly over two decades since Glasgow lost its Christmas tree located downtown. The tree used to sit in the middle of the street on 2nd Ave. S and 4th St. S. A manhole was uncovered and a pot the city created to place the tree in helped hold the tree in place. The Tri-Agency Drug Force and the Valley County Sheriff's Office reported that they made a bust after an intense investigation came to a close on Monday, Nov. 10. After a search warrant was conducted at 587 BIA Route 1, the task force located Shon Wilcox, who had approximately 4.5 pounds of pot, methamphetamine, prescription pills and numerous paraphernalia items that were located in a camper, utility trailer and a pickup. The highly charged debate surrounding the Keystone XL Pipeline, which could heavily impact Valley County, found approval and rejection in a week's time. Last week on Friday, Nov. 14, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill of approval for the pipeline, 252 to 161. Rep. Winter advisory warnings and watches went out for Northeast Montana over the past weekend – and they proved to be correct. The National Weather Service in Glasgow forecast accumulations in Valley County ranging from 4 to 6 inches of snow. A Valley County teen died in a car accident east of Nashua on Saturday. His 11-year-old brother, a passenger, was able to get out, but the 17-year-old was unable to get his seat belt off in time and drowned in an irrigation ditch, investigators said. Hunters found a terrible surprise on Thursday, Oct. 30. While they were out hunting on a relative's property they thought they had discovered an abandoned vehicle but on closer inspection they found that a body was inside. Negotiations were completed and Glasgow City council members have agreed to give both union and non-union employees a raise this year. Mayor Becky Erickson commented that there hasn't been a raise for employees in several years. The raise adds up to 50 cents an hour, and a $1.50 raise for employees who are on call. Great Northern Development Corporation (GNDC) met with a few Glasgow city officials recently to reveal the results and comments from the housing survey that went out. Glasgow beat the usual return of surveys, which is usually around 20 percent, with nearly 44 percent of the 1,225 surveys that went out to residents.
