Events Announced For Veterans Day

A Veterans Day ceremony will take place at the Glasgow Civic Center on Tuesday, Nov. 11, starting at 10:30 a.m. This year Vietnam veterans will be honored, as it is the 50th year since the end of the Vietnam War.

WWII veterans recently honored with the Legion of Honor Award from France also will be mentioned, this coming 70 years after their involvement in D-Day.

This year's speaker will be VFW State Cmdr. Art Widhalm. Steve Page will emcee the event. The Glasgow High School EQ singers will be at the ceremony and for the first time ever the fourth grade choir will perform “God Bless America.”

Willie Zeller said that after the 45 minute ceremony they will be holding a lunch at the VFW, where the Northeast Montana Veterans Memorial will have a drawing for some bigger items. Zeller said that all were welcome to both the ceremony and the lunch at the VFW.

The Glasgow High School Student Council and Albertsons will also be honoring veterans with a breakfast served at the VFW for the fourth year. The free breakfast is for veterans and active military personnel, along with spouses.
