Frazer Boys 0-3 On The Week

Frazer’s boys basketball team dropped a non-conference and two conference games this past week as the team still looks for a win. The Bearcubs lost 54-31 to MonDak Thursday before losing conference games to Nashua, 75-38, on Friday and to Lustre Christian, 77-12, Saturday. Frazer holds a 0-7, 0-14 overall record heading into the last week of the season.

The Bearcubs went up 6-4 over the Thunder in the first quarter in Frazer Thursday, but the visitors outscored them 14-4 in the second for an 18-10 lead at the half. MonDak held Frazer to 6 in the third while adding 16 to their side of the scoreboard. A high-scoring fourth quarter saw the Bearcubs put up 15 points, but the Thunder responded with 20 for the win.

Jarvis GoodBird led Frazer with 10 points, including two three-pointers. Travis Long scored 9 with two treys and a 1-for-2 showing at the free throw line. Joseph Beston scored 7, hitting 1-of-4 bonus shots while Ty Fourstar scored 5 with a shot from downtown. Frazer shot 25.0 percent at the line.

MonDak held their fouls to 10, four in the second half, while Frazer drew 17 whistles, eight after the intermission. Beston fouled out while Fourstar and GoodBird had four fouls each. Cassius Smoker and Long both had two fouls.

Frazer hosted Nashua Friday night where the visiting Porcupines led 26-11 at the end of the first and outscored the Bearcubs 23-11 in the second. The Bearcubs trailed 65-29 heading into the final quarter where they were outscored by a single point, 10-9.

Fourstar led Frazer with 18 points, hitting two from downtown and sinking both of his free throw attempts. Long added 11 with three shots from beyond the arc. Beston scored 4, GoodBird hit a trey and Christopher Fox added a bucket. The Bearcubs hit 66.6 percent from the line.

Frazer traveled to Lustre Saturday where the hosts extended their winning streak. The Lions held a 26-7 lead after one and 57-7 lead at the half after shutting out Frazer in the second. The Bearcubs scored 3 in the third but the Lions put up another 13 for a 70-10 lead heading into the fourth. Lustre scored 7 while holding Frazer to 2 points.

Beston scored 7 for Frazer with a three pointer. GoodBird hit a try and Long added a bucket. The Bearcubs missed both free throws.

Lustre held their fouls to five, two in the second half, while Frazer drew 15 whistles, four in the second half. Long fouled out while GoodBird and Beston had four fouls each. Fourstar was called for two fouls.

Frazer hosted Scobey Feb. 7, but scores were unavailable at press time.

The Bearcubs host the Dodson Coyotes Friday, Feb. 10 with the girls varsity teams hitting the court at 5:30 p.m. followed by the boys varsity game at 7 p.m. Frazer travels to Saco Saturday, Feb. 11, to play the North Country girls varsity at 4 p.m. with the boys game following at 5:30 p.m.
