Nashua Track Starts Season at Northeast Invitational

The Nashua track teams started their season April 13 at the Northeast Invitational in Scobey. The girls placed eighth with 24 team points while the boys earned 22 team points for ninth place.

GIRLS

Katey Dykstra led the Porcupines in the 100 meters, taking sixth place out of 41 runners with a time of 14.15. Maria Grimes ran a 17.84 for 40th place. Dykstra placed second in the 200 meters, out of 19, with a 29.58 time.

Dyllan Bergstrom ran a 6:53.54 in the 1600 meters for fifth place out of nine runners. She ran a 20.46 in the 100m hurdles to take seventh out of 15. Dykstra ran a 52.20 and Bergstrom a 57.76 in the 300m hurdles for second and fourth place, respectively, out of eight hurdlers.

Grimes threw 21-08.50 in the shot put for 21st out of 27 competitors. She finished 20th in the discus, out of 25, and 20th in the javelin, out of 29, with throws of 48-02 and 66-01.

Dykstra took sixth, out of six, in the triple jump with a distance of 27-02.00, and seventh, out of 35, in the long jump at 13-08.50. Bergstrom jumped 10-06.00 for 30th place in the long jump.

BOYS

EvRhett Pugh ran a 12.93 in the 100 meters to take 16th out of 52 runners.

Charlie Kaasa placed 27th in the 800 meters out of 32 with a time of 2:48.26 and seventh in the 3200 out of 13 with a 12:03.00 time.

Abern ran a 54.23 in the 300m hurdles to take fifth out of six hurdlers.

Pugh, Damon Adkins, Grady Nielsen and Abern ran a 52.30 in the 4x100 relay for ninth place while Abern, Kaasa, Pugh and Adkins combined for a 5:08.80 and fifth place in the 4x400 relay.

Nielsen led the Porcupines in the shot put with a sixth place, out of 36, and a throw of 37-06.00. Tycom Adkins threw 31-08.00 for 19th and D. Adkins threw 28-0.50 for 23rd place.

Nielsen also led the team in the discus, throwing 113-08 for fourth place out of 44 competitors. D. Adkins finished 10th at 98-02 and T. Adkins threw 79-08 for 23rd place. Norman Sibley finished in 43rd at 51-10.

D. Adkins threw 141-04 in the javelin for third out of 40 throwers. Pugh threw 111-02 for 11th place. T. Adkins finished in 27th with an 85-10 throw. Sibley threw 65-00 for 34th annd Kaasa took 38th at 55-09.

Pugh jumped 38-09.50 in the triple jump to take third out of 12 jumpers. Abern finished seventh at 35-05.00.

Pugh also led in the long jump with a distance of 17-05.00 and sixth place out of 34 competitors. Abern jumped 15-11.00 for 14th place. T. Adkins took 28th at 13-01.00 and Sibley jumped 10-04.00 for 34th place.

Nashua is scheduled to attend the Savage Invitational at Disney Thursday, April 18, and the Jean Dreikosen Memorial Meet in Glasgow Saturday, April 20. Underclassmen have been invited to the Scobey Froshmore Invite in Wolf Point Tuesday, April 23.
