Dawgs Hit by Comets

The Glasgow Ice Dawgs dropped two games to the highly-ranked North Dakotan Crosby Comets at home this weekend. Glasgow's high school team fell by a score of 6-1 Saturday evening. Sunday morning, down three players from the previous game, the Dawgs lost by a 10-point margin, 11-1.

Crosby took a 2-1 lead after one period, and led 5-1 at intermission. The Comets added a goal in the final period to seal the victory.

Glasgow's goal came on a breakaway by Tatum Hansen at 4:24 in the first. Trevor Dulaney assisted.

Aidin Wilkowski faced 45 shots between the pipes for an 86.7 save percentage. Glasgow's offense put 26 pucks on net at the other end of the ice.

The Dawgs were sent to the penalty box five times. Michael Hoyer sat in the first for tripping.

Dulaney, unsportsmanlike, and Mason Hunter, hooking, were sent to the box in the second. Peyton Hubbard was called for a 2-and-10 for a check to the back and Hoyer was called for roughing in the final 17 minutes.

The next morning, the Dawgs were short Colter Barnett, Aiden Price and Lex Fairclough. Crosby showed no mercy for the short bench, going up 4-0 after 17 minutes of play.

The Comets increased their lead to 10-0 by intermission. Each team netted a goal in the third for the final 11-1 score in Crosby's favor.

Zevin Kummerfeldt was the goal scorer for the Dawgs. He found the back of the net with 2:13 remaining with help from Hunter and Hubbard.

Wilkowski saw 44 pucks in the crease for an 86.4 save percentage. Glasgow managed a mere 13 shots on net.

Glasgow avoided the officials ire throughout the game, registering zero penalties in the game while the visitors earned two trips to the sin bin.

Glasgow travels to Miles City this weekend for a pair of games. They play Friday, Feb. 4, at 6 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 5, at 10 a.m.
