Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913

Familiar Face Back at Glasgow Police Department

From the Squad Room

After two years away from the Glasgow Police Department, Renee Jones just couldn't stay away from the close law enforcement family she has bonded with over the past decade.

"I really missed working with the police department," Jones told The Courier recently. "I had spent eight years here, and it was time for me to step away and have a job where I wasn't necessarily on call."

Jones formerly was a victim specialist at GPD, a position she filled from 2011 through 2019.

"I spend eight years working with victims," Jones said.

Jones then left to become a juvenile probation officer. Recently, an opening for GPD Administrative Assistant opened up, and Jones was quick to step into the role after being approved by GPD administration.

In her new capacity, Jones will not directly work on pending cases, but will offer assistance in the office to GPD Chief Rob Weber and Assistant Chief Tyler Edwards.

"I actually want to be here to give them the support they need to continue to be an outstanding department," Jones said." We are the leaders in the entire world as far as our programs go, and I want us to continue flourishing and moving in those patterns, and being the trend setters and the flag ship. A lot of people can look at our programs and believe in our police department. I was part of the founding members of some of that, and it is really nice to be able to come back and offer that support to continue in that direction. I am really proud to be here with these guys. They are a really fantastic team."

Because GPD is a relatively small department, the police and civilian personnel are the next best thing to blood kin, Jones said.

"In my background, I am from a bigger place," Jones said. "I moved up to Montana from Texas, and so I am very much used to that big city urban [environment}. But, Glasgow is probably one of the best small towns to be a part of. The community being so welcoming has definitely made that easier. There is still always that piece of you that misses the big city life. But, there is definitely greatness to being here."
