Colbrese Memorial Golf Tournament

Another Year, Another Success

Sunnyside Golf and Country Club held true to their slogan and produced sunny skies for the Colbrese Memorial Golf Tournament this past weekend. With not a cloud in the sky, golfers hit the links to try their hands at the grand prizes for gross and net scores as well as hole prizes.

At the end of the day Todd Truscott, Jake Hughes, Joel Smith and Chris Richter walked away with First Place Gross bragging rights and the $2,000 prize. The quartet combined for a score of 99 in the 18-hole Glasgow Area Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture's annual tournament. Josh Sillerud won $795 in the calcutta for his purchase of the team.

Tim Dees, Rod Potts, Josh Toews and Gil Johnson combined forces to win $2,000 and the top slot for net score. With handicap, the four swung for a 90.68 score. Potts earned $954 for his calcutta purchase of his own team.

Coming in second was the team of Jed Kirkland, Billie Allestad, Kerry Money and Kevin Hohlen with their score of 92.40. They earned $1,200 in prize money. The team bought themselves in the calcutta and added $795 to their winnings.

A score of 92.76 earned Nate Hopstad, Taylor Hopstad, Kevin Schindler and Lindsey Peterson 3rd place net and $800 in prize money. Schindler, who bought his own team, earned an additional $636 in calcutta money.

Defending their title of Bottom Bouncers, in honor of the Terry Colbrese, were Lynsey Reyes, Breanne Jensen, Jolene Reyes and Maklay Bulock. The four earned $200 for their appearance in the tournament.

Ed Hopfauf won the $50 Hole #1 prize, sponsored by Arch's Tire & Service, for landing the closest second shot on the green. The $50 prize for being closest to the Scottie flag on Hole #2, sponsored by Cottonwood, went to BJ Kemp. Patrick Price won $50 on Hole #3 from Buechler Agency for being closest to the line.

The $250 prize from Nemont on Hole #4 went to Rocky Thompson for hitting closest to the pin.

Dustin Bulock and Maklay Bulock each won $50 on Hole #5 from Northwest Farm Credit Services for the shortest drive (men and women). Hi-Tech Electric sponsored the $250 closest to the pin prize on Hole #6, which went to Casey Cote.

Kevin Hohlen and Alex Page each won $50 on Hole #7, sponsored by C&B Operations, for longest putt (men and women). Thompson & Sons sponsored the longest drive (men and women) prize on hole #8 where Austin Stradley and Bobi Sugg each won $50. Dan Bilbruck won $50 from All Season's Home Center for his closest to the triangle shot.

JR's Party Store sponsored the closest to the flag (men and women) $50 prizes on Hole #10 which went to Lee Nelson and Alex Page. Jesse Hystad won Hole #11's closest to the drop zone prize, sponsored by Pehlke's Furniture. On Hole #12, Chancely Carter won $50, sponsored by Hi Line Med Spa, for her shot that was closest to the pond without going in.

Darrin Wersal and Sue Peterson each won $50 from Cottonwood on Hole #13 for hitting closest to the pin. Red Fox Real Estate paid out $50 to Dennis Zimdars for the shortest drive on Hole #14. Lindsey Peterson won $50 on Hole #15 from Ezzie's for her shot which was closest to the pin.

Cami Kalinski won $50 on Hole #16 for the closest second shot (women), sponsored by Hi Line Collision. On Hole #17 Ezzie's paid $50 to Chris Richter and Helland Agency paid $50 to Lexie Pehlke for their longest drives. The prize on Hole #18, sponsored by Farm Bureau Insurancea nd Shane Gibson for the closest second shot by a man went unpaid.

Chamber Executive Director Lisa Koski told the Courier the tournament grew by two teams this year. She also thanked her volunteers for making the event a success, including Gary and Sandy Maczka for cooking their infamous steak dinner for the golfers. Koski added that the event would not happen without the sponsors and extended her gratitude to the BS Central, Inc., First Community Bank, Independence Bank, Cape Air, D&G Sports & Western, KLTZ/KLAN, Nemont Beverage, Scottie Express Wash, Albertsons, Coca-Cola, Edward Jones, Robyn's Nest, T&R Trucking, Bank of Glasgow, Blue Rock Beverage and FMDH.
