FMDH Foundation's 22nd Open Golf Tournament

Twenty-one teams turned out for the 22nd Open Golf Tournament on Sunday, June 13. The weather was just what we ordered for the teams coming out to support a great cause and great community. Our Premier Sponsors, First Community Bank and Independence Bank made this day a huge success.

Each of the teams registered, had breakfast, and were all ready to tee off by the 9 a.m. Every hole featured a different game for men, women, or everyone with the winner taking home wonderful prizes donated by our local businesses. The games were designed so that both experienced and inexperienced golfers alike had chances to win. Nemont, a major sponsor, took team pictures that were ready within minutes. Gregg Hunter said, "It's fast, just like our internet!"

The FMDH Foundation is extremely fortunate that this fundraising tournament is well sponsored by local businesses, showing their support of the Foundation's mission. Businesses participated as Major Event Sponsors, Hole Sponsors, and by providing merchandise, gift certificates, or cash for prizes. This tournament would not be near the success it is without them.

RBC Wealth Management sponsored the hole-in-one prize for $500, while Thrivent Financial sponsored closest to the hole for $125 – which Mick Earl proudly took home.

This day event requires weeks of planning that is undertaken by Foundation board members including Derek Beadle, Michelle Bigelbach, Annie Capdeville, Michelle Eliason, Bronwin Hanshew, Paula Hicks, Somer Hoerster, Jeff Sather, and Zak Peterson. The golf tournament is the Foundation's major fundraiser, which requires staff and board members to contact businesses each year throughout our area. Once again, the response received was amazing and we are very grateful. Thank you!

The teams started to trickle in with an appetite and were greeted with Doris Ozark's brisket feast sponsored by Cornwell Ranch, with FritoLay providing chips. FMDH employees, Jeri Neumiller and Becky Stein helped. Derek Beadle and Annie Capdeville conducted the awards ceremony while players finished up their meal.

A team that came down and made a huge donation in memory of our longtime friend, employee, and Foundation supporter, Dennis Chandler, took home bragging rights. What a perfect end to a great day.
