Scottie Golf Teams Take Seconds in Shelby

The Glasgow golf teams were back in action this past Friday, hitting the links in Shelby. Despite a windy day, the Scottie boys team dropped 36 strokes from their first outing. “What a difference two weeks make,” said coach Todd Truscott, while noting it is time to keep working. “I am very happy with the progress we have made!”

Riley Smith led the boys with a score of 89, followed by Keigan Ingram with 91. Rance Rhoads scored 98, and Eli Feezell was right behind him with 99. Vinny Chappell rounded out the boys scoring with 109.

The girls team put five golfers on the course, an uptick from the two who kicked off the season March 26 in Shelby. Bailee Baxter scored 112 to lead the Scottie girls. Shanice Laqerquist had 120 and Kylie Lagerquist scored 128. Alesia Hopstad notched a 136 while Allie Palm registered a 139 to round out the girls scoring.

Conrad won the meet, while Choteau placed third, Cut Bank claimed fourth, Malta fifth and Wolf Point was sixth.

The Scotties will be back in action this weekend with two meets, both hosted in Wolf Point. “We will keep working on chipping and putting,” Truscott said. A lot of that work will take place at Hi-Tech Golf with the team taking advantage of the indoor simulators while spring snow falls.

Glasgow will play in the Poplar Invitational on Friday, April 16, hitting the Wolf Point Airport Golf Club course at 9 a.m. The team will return on Saturday, April 17, for the Wolf Point Invitational.
