Winter Break Almost Over

Games Resume This Weekend

The Christmas break is just about over for Valley County basketball teams, who ring in the 2015 portion of their seasons this weekend with a busy slate of boys and girls games.

The Glasgow Scotties open the New Year at Sidney on Friday, June 2, with the varsity boys looking to improve to a 6-0 in a 7:30 p.m. game at SHS. G-Town is coming off a satisfying 65-60 comeback victory Dec. 19 in Glasgow over rival Malta in a clash of two strong 2B squads with postseason aspirations.

The young Scottie girls, meanwhile, stand at 1-4 going into their 5:45 varsity game against the Lady Eagles at the SHS gym.

Friday's other Glasgow games in Sidney include the JV boys at the middle school and the JV girls at the high school at 4:15, the frosh/JV II boys at the middle school at 5:45, and the frosh/JV II girls at the middle school at 7:30.

In Class C action, the New Year opens this weekend with these games for Courierland teams:

– Circle at Nashua boys and girls on Jan. 2.

– Poplar boys and girls at Frazer on Jan. 2

– Saco-Whitewater boys at Hinsdale on Saturday, Jan. 3.

– Nashua boys and girls at Dodson on Jan. 3.

– Opheim girls at Frazer on Jan. 3.

The Lustre Christian teams don't return to the court until next week on Friday, Jan. 9, at Frazer.

SCOTTIE WRESTLING BRIEF:

The Glasgow Scotties wrestling team returns to the mat next Tuesday, Jan. 6, in a home dual vs. Glendive.

It promises to be a full night of wrestling at the GHS gym with matches in all 13 weight classes.

The dual follows a Christmas break that included two-a-day practices for this season's new generation of Scotties, who are striving to improve as quickly as possible.
