  • Here's A Texas Size Thank You To Glasgow

    Jun 26, 2013

Dear Editor: My wife and I are traveling through Montana with our horses in a trailer with living quarters. When we came through Glasgow (the week of June 16), we were having a difficult time finding somewhere to stall or pasture our horses overnight. When my wife contacted Shady Rest, the lady manager offered to call the fairgrounds to check on availability. By the time we arrived, she had made arrangements and we went straight there where we were met by Whitney,a very pleasant and helpful young lady who immediately went to work helping us to... Full story

  • No, No, No: Saco Shooting Range Closed

Letter To The Editor, Richard Barnard|Jun 5, 2013

Dear Editor: I am shocked and disappointed, by the events that have occurred at the shooting range south of Saco. It is evident that a person or persons unknown, do not understand the meaning of the word “no,” such as: “No” jacketed bullets shot at our hard targets, but you went and shot them to pieces, anyway. “No” driving off of the roads, but you went and spun brodies out in the grass, anyway. “No” longer open to the public, but you went and shot and pried our locks off, anyway. The last one says it’s obvious that you think you have a... Full story

  • Bison Legacy Fine As Is

    May 22, 2013

This is an open letter from Michael Fred Ereaux of Malta, a member of the Montana Community Preservation Alliance, to Tom France, the Missoula-based senior director for western wildlife conservation for the National Wildlife Federation, whose opinion piece “Planning can help to resolve bison battles” was printed in state newspapers last week. I live close to CMR, and I have witnessed what sound wildlife management brings. You say that CMR would be the best place to reintroduce bison. Have you considered that the majority of the roads that tra... Full story

  • New Shed, Civic Center Looking Good For A Reason

    Steve Page, Glasgow|May 8, 2013

I would like to compliment the Valley County Road Department Supervisor and his crew on their fine job of constructing the new storage shed in the county yard. As taxpayers, we appreciate the accomplishment of this project in your spare time, using largely salvaged materials (bridge timbers) and no doubt saving the community a lot of money. We also recognize that you didn’t allow a little cold weather to send you back to the warm shop on a few those nasty days. For anyone unfamiliar with this new structure, it is worth taking a look – very impr... Full story

  • VA Clinic Needs Improvement

    Bob Strand, Fort Peck|May 8, 2013

I recently had an annual physical appointment with the VA in Billings. When I was about halfway to Billings, I received a call from the VA that my appointment had been unavoidably cancelled. I was re-scheduled for a week later. I went on to Billings, as I had made additional arrangements because of the scheduled physical. These two trips incurred over 1,200 travel miles. I’ve spoken with other vets in our area who have been forced to drive to Billings or Miles City or Fort Harrison in Helena for various medical needs. We have the new clinic f... Full story
