Scottie Girls Win Over Wolf Point

The Scottie girls basketball team earned their first conference win with a 57-42 win over Wolf Point Dec. 21 at home. Glasgow also defeated the Rocky Boy Morning Stars 54-33 Dec. 22 to improve their record.

Glasgow led the entire game over Wolf Point, going up 19-4 after one and 33-22 at the half. Both teams put up 12 in the third quarter with the Scotties outscoring the Wolves 12-8 in the final quarter.

Mayzie Yoakam led all scorers with 20 points, followed by Joely Chappell with 13, Paityn Britzman 7, Hayden Green 6, Tanae Baker 5, Kyndal Schraner 4 and Gina Page 2 points.

Glasgow’s JV team also won their game, shutting Wolf Point out in the second and fourth quarters with a 27-9 final score. Hannah Holinde led the team with 14 points while Haleigh Huntsman hit for 7 points. Kelbi Wersal, Bailey Billingsley and Lacy White scored 2 points each in the win.

Scores and stats for the Rocky Boy games will appear in next week’s Courier.

The Scotties return to action Friday, Jan. 5, 2024, when they host the Class A Glendive Red Devils for C, JV and varsity action beginning at 3 p.m. in Scottie gymnasium. Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024, Glasgow will be in Malta for C, JV and varsity games.
