Plunging For Special Olympics

It was a perfect December day on the 2nd for the annual Middle Of Nowhere Polar Plunge in front of the Glasgow Civic Center during the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture's Winter Wonderland Christmas Stroll.

A total of 21 people of all ages participated in the Plunge, including members of the Glasgow Police Department, the Valley County Sheriff's Office, Nemont Telephone, Glasgow High School and the Montana Highway Patrol.

Valley County Search and Rescue was on standby with Dustin Brunelle and Cody Tarver in the pool for the plunge participants to make sure everyone jumped in and got out safely while Brianne Brunelle and Shyanne Isaskson also assisted during the event.

The brave individuals who signed up to plunge into the icy waters did it to raise funds and support the dedicated athletes of Special Olympics Montana, who local athletes are the clients of Milk River, Inc.

According to Executive Director Michelle Eliason, a total of $8,000 is expected to be raised from the event and the funds will be utilized for travel costs to and from competitions as well as year-round sports training.
