Ice Dawgs Skate Away With Two Home Wins

Beat Bozeman in Home Opening Weekend

The Glasgow Ice Dawgs won their home opener doubleheader against the Bozeman Ice Dogs. Glasgow cruised to an easy 9-2 win Saturday night and an 8-1 victory Sunday morning. The Dawgs dominated puck control over the course of the two games, proving to be as strong offensively playing down a man as they were at full strength.

The Dawgs outshot the visitors 47-9 in the first game, with Dawgs goalie Jacob Potter turning in a .778 save percentage. Potter turned away seven of the nine Ice Dogs' attempts on his net with the majority of the action occurring at the other end of the ice.

Aiden Price started the scoring for Glasgow in the first period with an assist from Tatum Hansen. Tavin Boland scored the second goal and Zevin Kummerfeldt put the third puck in net for the Dawgs. Bode Barnett, assist Tristan Powell, made it 4-0 and Connor Koski gave Glasgow a 5-0 lead with a helper from Lex Fairclough before the first period ended.

Bozman found their way past Potter in the second, but Kummerfeldt scored with assists from Boland and Peyton Smith to make it 6-1 at intermission.

On a fresh sheet of ice, Brody Hansen made it 7-1 before scoring a short-handed goal and increasing Glasgow's lead to 8-1. Price closed out the game with another goal on an assist from Barnett.

The Dawgs amassed 28 penalty minutes on 10 infractions with Bozeman serving 18 minutes in the box on five calls in a game that saw little extra action after the whistles.

The Dawgs did not let up Sunday morning, putting 49 pucks on the Dogs' netminder. Potter spent most of the game alone, seeing only four shots on his home, giving him a .750 save percentage in the 8-1 win.

Eli Howland scored first for Glasgow Sunday morning. Barnett and T. Hansen had the assists on the first period goal. Price, assists Mason Hunter and Barnett, scored the insurance goal. Powell made it 3-0 with help from Smith before Smith scored his own goal with help from Kummerfeldt. Glasgow led 4-0 at the end of the first.

The Dawgs made good on two man-advantages in the second, scoring on both of Bozeman's penalties in the game. Charlie Cornwell netted the first PPG with an assist from Price. Barnett found the back of the net on the second man-advantage with help from Hunter.

After the intermission, Powell made it 8-0 with an assist from Howland. Bozeman scored once before the clock ran out.

Bozeman had four penalty minutes on two infractions while Glasgow held their sin bin time to a reasonable 10 minutes on five calls, killing every one of Bozeman's power plays.

The high school Ice Dawgs return to the ice Friday through Sunday, Dec. 1-3, at the Sidney Tournament.

The Peewee Ice Dawgs also hosted Bozeman. Glasgow lost 8-1 Saturday night with the Dawgs' lone goal coming from Myracle Henry. The Dawgs fell 5-2 Sunday morning. Ricardo Reyes, assist Harper Wesen, and Jaxson Kemp, assist Oakleigh Bietz, scored for Glasgow. The Peewees next play Dec. 9 and 10 in Billings.
