Scottie Football Wins Fifth in a Row

Down Wolves 41-6

Glasgow won their fifth game in a row and finished the regular season with a 5-0, 5-4 overall record. The Scotties downed the Wolves in Wolf Point 41-6 after running up the score to a running clock in the first half.

The Dawgs made good on their opening drive when Toryn Richards scored on a quarterback keeper and Rex Monson added the PAT at 6:42. With 1:21 left in the first, Richards connected with Wyatt Babb on a 9-yard toss. Monson's kick was good for a 14-0 lead. Tatum Hansen scored on a blocked punt and a 30 yard return to make it 20-0.

Thirty-nine seconds into the second quarter, Hansen scored a safety when he took down the Wolves QB in the end zone. Less than four minutes later, Richards found Kade Strommen in the end zone as the latter came down with the 18-yard toss. Monson's kick was good. Two minutes later, the Scotties started the running clock when Liam Chapman returned a kickoff 60 yards.

Glasgow's final score of the game came midway through the final quarter on a 41-yard run by Hansen. The Wolves lit up their own scoreboard with 3:22 remaining in the game on a 53-yard run.

The Scotties gave up only 90 total yards to the Wolves while offensively putting up 239 total yards, 251 net, with no turnovers.

Richards completed 4-of-5 passes with two touchdowns for 57 yards. He had six carries for another 30 yards. Hansen racked up 108 yards rushing with one touchdown. Chapman added 35 yards on six carries and Wyatt Sugg had one carry for 13 yards.

Babb had two catches for 35 yards with one TD. Strommen added 18 with his one catch and TD while Tavin Boland had one snag for 4 yards.

The team was 2-for-3 in the red zone.

"Great team win from all phases of the game.  Going the length of the field and punching it in on our first drive offensively really set the tone in this one. Our offense really bounced back this week and finished off drives, closing the door early.," offensive coordinator Sam Tedrow told the Courier. "A lot of standout performances, but I really liked the way Liam was running the ball. Boy he looked shifty and explosive out there!"

Jaydeen Hanshew led the defense with eight total tackles, six unassisted and half a sack. Babb had the other half of the sack with two tackles. Myles Yoakam, Hansen and Sugg added a sack each with two, one and three total tackles, respectively. Vaughn Miller notched six unassisted tackles and Kohl Kittleson took down three Wolves. Cade Hudyma, Strommen, Coy Nelson and Monson added two tackles a piece while Connor Hudyma, Braxton Potter, Chapman, Dillon Hughes, Brody Hansen, Michael King and Jacob Potter put up one each. Will Kirkland put three hurries on the stats sheet.

Glasgow clinched the Northern B title with the win and enters the post season with home field advantage. The Scotties welcome the Jefferson Panthers, the fourth seed out of the South, to town for a 1 p.m. kickoff at Scottie field Saturday, Oct. 28, marking the first meeting of the two schools. Gates open at 11:30 a.m. The game will be broadcast live on KLTZ radio and NFHS.

"The real deal starts this week. Jefferson is a big and physical ball club. Offensively we need to really hone in on our assignments and use the correct blocking angles to keep our run game moving," Tedrow said. "Going to be a great matchup this Saturday, hope to see the whole town turn out and get this show rolling!"
