Ice Dawgs Win In Great Falls

Host Top-Ranked Miles City This Weekend

The high school Ice Dawgs brought home two wins from their road trip to Great Falls this past weekend. Glasgow defeated the Americans 3-1 Jan. 20 and 4-1 Jan. 21 to improve the Dawgs' record to 12-2. The Dawgs currently sit in number two position in their league.

Both Glasgow's and Great Falls' goalies turned in a flawless first period Friday night. Glasgow put eight shots on the Americans' netminder while Aidin Wilkowski stopped both shots by the Americans.

The Dawgs turned up the heat in the second period and found success on two of their 15 shots on goal. Tatum Hansen started the scoring with 10:06 to play before intermission, hitting on a power play with an assist from Mason Hunter. Tavin Boland hit just over six minutes later with help from Peyton Hubbard and Tristan Powell to give Glasgow a 2-0 lead heading into the break.

Hunter took Glasgow's lead to 3-0 with an assist from Michael Hoyer 3:42 into the third period. Great Falls lit up the scoreboard with 5:11 remaining in the game but fell short of stopping the Dawgs.

Glasgow had 10 minutes in the penalty box on five infractions while Great Falls had three penalties for six minutes. Boland sat for hooking in the first period. Trevor Dulaney, cross-checking, and Hoyer, elbowing, took involuntary seats in the second. Dulaney went back to the box in the third, on a kneeing call, while Powell served a roughing call in the same period.

The Dawgs went 1-for-2 on the man advantage and put a total of 34 shots on net. Great Falls fired 17 pucks at Wilkowski, who turned in a 94.1 save percentage.

Back on the ice Saturday, the goalies again showed off their skills in the first period. Wilkowski shut down five shots by the Americans while Glasgow put nine pucks on the Great Falls netminder to no avail.

The scoring stalemate continued until late in the second when Hansen would again start the action. He found the back of the net with 3:37 to go before intermission. Over three minutes would tick off the clock before Glasgow struck again. Connor Koski gave the Dawgs an insurance goal, assists Charlie Cornwell and Dulaney, with 29 ticks left on the clock. He scored Glasgow's third goal 22 seconds later.

Kimber Dulaney gave Glasgow a 4-0 lead 8:08 into the third period. The Americans put one puck past Wilkowski with less than a minute-and-a-half to play to make the final score 4-1, Glasgow.

Glasgow had four penalty minutes on two infractions and shut down both of Great Falls' man-advantages. The Americans had two minutes in the box on one penalty and denied the Dawgs a PPG. Hoyer, interference in the second, and Hansen, unsportsmanlike conduct in the third, each served two minutes for Glasgow.

Wilkowski had a 92.9 save percentage, turning away 13 of 14 shots on his net. Glasgow put 37 pucks on the Amerians' netminder.
