Man Arrested For Assault On Peace Officer and Resisting Arrest

On Dec. 31, at around 1:15 p.m., an officer with the Glasgow Police Department observed a vehicle driving down the wrong side of the road. The officer then observed the vehicle illegally double parked on the wrong side of the street on 4th Avenue South. When the officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, the male driver got out of the vehicle and refused to follow the officer’s commands. He then began to physically fight the officer.

During this fight, the officer discharged his Taser two times which was not effective. More officers arrived a few moments later in which the male was successfully arrested after a Taser was used a third time. Upon being arrested, the male was evaluated by EMS personnel before being remanded to the Valley County Detention Center for Assault on a Peace Officer, Resisting Arrest and Failing to Drive to the Right of the Roadway.

As the incident was taking place, the male’s mother, came out of a nearby residence and began yelling at and also challenging the officer. She was given several commands from the officer to leave which she refused. She was also arrested and remanded to the Valley County Detention Center for Obstructing a Peace Officer.

This incident occurred on the 800 block of 4th Avenue South. We ask that anyone who witnessed the incident to please call the Glasgow Police Department at 406-228-8050.

Editor’s Note: The Glasgow Courier has instituted a policy to not identify arrested individuals due to the presumption of innocence.
