Hinsdale Voters Pass Building Reserve Levies

The Hinsdale School District held a special election on July 12 asking voters to pass a Hinsdale Building Reserve fund for the high school in the amount of $805,975 and to pass an Elementary Building Reserve Fund in the amount of $332,561. These funds were asked of the voters so the district could replace the 1968 school boiler and the high school ventilation system. The elementary ventilation system also needs to be replaced however, at this time, federal and local funds are being used for that project.

The Hinsdale voters passed the high school building reserve levy 106-45 with a 38 percent voter turnout. Voters also passed the elementary building reserve levy, 108-37, with a 40 percent voter turnout. Ballots for this election were mailed out with the option for voters to mail their ballot back or to return it to the school.

According to the school, for 54 years with maintenance and pride, the boiler and ventilation system was operational however it is becoming obsolete. The upgrades will help improve air quality in the building and make the heating system more efficient.
