Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913

VCHD Receives $5,000 For AED Equipment

The Valley County Health Department was recently gifted $5,000 from the Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital Foundation for AED equipment to support the Health Department's Cardiac Ready Community Program.

The Cardiac Ready Community (CRC) seeks to increase survival of cardiac patients through development and implementation of a high-performance cardiac care system. When the Chain of Survival is strong, outcomes from cardiac arrest are improved.

Valley County Health Department received notice of Cardiac Ready Community designation on Nov. 1, 2018, from DPHHS Public Health & Safety Division. This designation focuses on local residents trained in early identification that a cardiac emergency is occurring, 911 activation, hands-only CPR given by bystanders, public access to AEDs, community education, and coordination with EMS and Valley County Dispatch for all cardiac emergencies prior to arrival at a hospital.

The gifted funds will be used to purchase batteries and pads for 20 AEDs in Valley County that are expiring soon. Three new AEDs will also be purchased to place in local group homes.

All of Valley County benefits from this gift as Valley County Health Department continues cardiac readiness efforts.

If you're a facility that provides medical care in Valley County and would like to request gifting funds, please contact the FMDH Foundation Coordinator at 406-228-3556 or email [email protected]!
