19U Ice Dawgs Win Senior Night Game

Split Weekend with Havre Ice Hawks

Glasgow's 19U Ice Dawgs downed the Havre Ice Hawks 4-2 in their Senior Night game last Friday before dropping a back-and-forth 4-3 rematch Saturday morning.

The Dawgs struck first Friday night when Kimber Dulaney scored on the man advantage at 10:25. Captain Tatum Provencher had the assist. Havre tied the game with 1:11 remaining in the first period.

Glasgow took the lead back at 7:33 in the second period on another power play. Shanice Lagerquist found the back of the net with an assist from Provencher. Forty seconds later, the Ice Hawks tied the game again. But Ava Lloyd scored the go-ahead goal with help from Lagerquist with 4:49 to go before intermission.

Provencher cemented her senior night win in the third period, finding the back of the net at 12:26.

Glasgow put 26 shots on goal while Dawgs' netminder Delaney Rixford faced 24 attempts on her crease for a 91.7 save percentage.

The Dawgs took only two trips to the penalty box and the special teams killed both Havre power plays. Lloyd sat in the first period for interference and Emma Whitmer was sent to the box in the third for tripping.

The teams were back on the ice Saturday morning for game two. Lloyd and Provencher teamed up again for the first goal of the game, and Lloyd's second of the weekend, less than 30 seconds into the game.

Havre knotted the score with 3:20 left in the first but Victoria Pehlke scored the go-ahead goal 41 seconds before the buzzer sounded.

The Ice Hawks netted the only goal in the second period to make the score 2-2 heading into intermission.

Lagerquist put the Dawgs ahead again 1:22 into the third period but the Hawks tied the game again just over 10 minutes later. Then, with 33 seconds left on the clock, Havre trickled a puck past Rixford for the win.

Rixford earned a 91.3 save percentage, turning away 42 shots on her net. Glasgow, at the other end of the ice, threw 34 pucks at the Havre netminder.

Players from both teams left penalty box workers lonely with a completely clean game.

The 19U Ice Dawgs travel to Missoula this weekend for a pair of games. The Dawgs face the Bruins at 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, and at 6 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12.
