Lustre Christian Boys Run Away with Two Games

The Lustre Christian boys basketball team posted two big wins this past weekend at the Tip-Off Tourney in Wolf Point. The Lions defeated the host team JV squad by an 86-25 margin Friday and downed the Poplar JV team 79-30 on Saturday.

In their game against Wolf Point, Lustre put more points in the first quarter – 35 – than the Wolves would score in the game. Lustre held the host team to 12 points in the first eight minutes. They added 19 points in the second quarter while Wolf Point put up 6 points.

The Lions shut out the Wolves in the third while putting up 13 points on their side of the scoreboard. The fourth quarter saw the Lions put in another 19 while holding the Wolves to 7 points for the 86-25 win.

The Lions connected on 12 three-pointers and went 8-for-12 at the line. Kolden Hoversland and Clay Reddig led Lustre in scoring with 21 and 20, respectively. Alex Chen and Jasiah Hambira put up 9 points each. Gabe Alves and Elijah Lenihan contributed 8 points each. Cayden Klatt scored 5, Braden Ewing 4 and Bryan Chen 2 points a piece.

Hambira pulled down six rebounds and K. Hoversland had five to lead the Lions. Klatt, B. Chen, Alves, A. Chen, Reddig, and Ewing had three each. Klatt and Alves had three steals each to lead Lustre. Klatt had five assists and Reddig had four for the Lions.

Saturday evening, the Lions hit double-digit scoring in every quarter as they routed the Indians. Lustre put up 19, 23, 20 and 17 points per quarter while holding Poplar to 5, 7, 12, and 6 per quarter.

Lustre connected on 26 field goals, six treys and went 9-for-13 at the line.

K. Hoversland put up 19 points in leading the Lions. Hambira 15, Ewing 13 and Klatt 12, also hit double digits. Lenihan added 9 points, A. Chen 8 and Reddig 3 points.

Hambira pulled down nine boards and K. Hoversland had seven for the Lions. Ewing registered five steals and Lenihan had four. Klattt and K. Hoversland had five assists each for Lustre.

The Lions will be in Nashua Friday, Dec. 17, with games at 4:30, 6 and 7:30 p.m. Lustre hosts Culbertson Saturday, Dec. 18, with games at 4:30, 6 and 7:30 p.m.

They will be in Bainville Monday, Dec. 20, with game times to be announced. On Tuesday, Dec. 21, they host Scobey with game times at 4:30, 6 and 7:30 p.m.
