Nashua and Frazer Run in Wolf Point Invitational

September 1, 2021

The Nashua and Frazer cross country teams started their 2021 season at the Wolf Point Invitational on Aug. 27.

Frazer sophomores Anthony Jackson placed 31st and teammate Ty Fourstar placed 33rd for the Bearcubs boys team. Junior Alyssa Toce Blount placed 22nd in the girls race. Sophomore Shakira Beston placed 27th followed by fellow sophomore Kalianna Toce Blount in 28th. Another Bearcub sophomore, Angel Nelligan, placed 35th.

“I know we were pretty excited as coaches,” said Frazer’s Cody Larson, who coaches the boys team, “we thought our kids had a real nice day. Any time you can take the necessary steps to qualify for state, is always a fun time.”

Nashua senior Alyssa Murdock was the only Porcupine to compete. The senior took 37th place in the season’s inaugural race.

Middle school athletes from both schools also participated in a 1.5 mile race to start their season. For Frazer, sixth grader Bryce Even took 33rd, followed by eighth grader Cassius Smoker in 36th place and sixth grader Ronald Roundface in 38th.

On the girls side, eighth grader Isabelle Even led the Bearcubs in 32nd place. Sixth graders Raelene Brock finished in 34th place and Harper Weeks took 44th place. Seventh grader Lola Romero took 47th and sixth grader Madison Knowlton placed 53rd. Madison Garfield, sixth grade, finished in 57th; Shay Fourstar, seventh grade, took 60th while Mila Smoker, sixth grade, took 61st and seventh grader Cassidy Mail placed 62nd.

Nashua sixth grader Joseph Youpee placed 25th while fellow Porcupine, Lucas Tatafu, sixth grade, placed 53rd.

Larson is looking for both the Frazer boys and girls teams to improve as the season progresses. “As long as they are competing, that’s all we can ask for as coaches,” he added.
