Tayson Hoerster, #13, leaps to catch the ball near the end zone and tips the ball toward Tel Aune, #45, during the Scottie's game vs. Harlem on Sept. 7.

Glasgow 50, Harlem 6

The Glasgow Scotties defeated the Harlem Wildcats 50-6 in their first home game of the season Sept. 7, in a reversal from their season opener.

Glasgow's head football coach Pat Barnett said the game went well if not for a rocky initial start in the first quarter. "The first quarter was rough, because both teams played well," said Barnett, adding that mistakes and penalties added to the issues early on, "We had mistakes like fumbles right on the goal line and correctable penalties like jumping off-sides."

In the end, the Scotties pulled off a commanding finish leading the Wildcats by 44 points. Barnett credited the defense calling out Tayson Hoerster's "pick six" (an interception leading to a touchdown) and the offense's collective 288-yard game.

Scottie football will head to Fairfield to take on the Eagles Sept. 14. "They are a big, fast, powerful team," explained Barnett before adding, "They're gonna be hard." Barnett set the focus for his team in the upcoming competition, stating the Scotties will look to play their best and focus on finishing possessions and avoiding small costly penalties.

An alert and waiting Aune grabs a tipped ball from Hoerster and makes it across the goal line during the Scotties' first home game. The boys' efforts did not pay off, however, as the touchdown was denied due to a penalty on the Scotties. Hoerster finished the game with 49 receiving yards while Aune had 26 yards.
