Trio of Artists Host Downtown Receptions

GHS senior Ashtyn Myrick places a draft of her artist statement at the Sean R. Heavey Galkery on Feb. 25.

New Glasgow High School art teacher Bridget Schmidt has partnered with the Sean R. Heavey Gallery to feature artwork by seniors Ashtyn Myrick and Taylor Trathen. A reception is planned at the gallery on March 2 beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Myrick is a 19 year old senior at GHS participating in multiple sports as well as visual arts. She produces art about emotional events and experiences and strives to represent feelings through imagery. Myrick's media of choice include acrylic paint, ink, and graphite.

Trathen is a 17 year old senior at GHS. She is currently exploring abstract concepts through colorful, realistic art. She primarily works with acrylic paint, watercolor, and acetone transfer.

On the same evening, there is a reception for artist Otto Osen next door at Wheatgrass Arts & Gallery, also beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the downtown gallery location. Refreshments will be provided.
