Times Will Change

How many of you think of all the wonderful conveniences our present day vehicles provide us? The other day I had the opportunity (or necessity) to drive my older model pickup to work. Oh my, no heated seats or steering wheel, no back-up camera or phone connection, no information system telling me that my tire or oil pressure was low. Could I make it to town without all of this information? And it is a manual shift. (Since it was Halloween, it was fitting that I do know how to drive a stick. Just not sure I can park a broom stick as well as the pickup.) However my transportation was not old enough to have a dimmer switch on the floor. How many of you remember those days?

I personally miss that particular feature. Oh, and when I got ready to head for home, there was no remote start. Yes, I am exaggerating some, but just think of how our times have changed and then wonder what the next 10 years will bring. Of course, the electric car and remotes are already here, but I do think it may be awhile before anything like that becomes a standard in our rural areas.

I do really enjoy a lot of the present-day features in our transportation, but you can’t help but love those vintage vehicles. I am sure that many of you enjoy seeing them driving around. I might really enjoy a trip or two in a golden oldie, but restoration is a little beyond my talents or pocketbook. So, on these very brisk days we have been blessed with, count your blessings as you start up your vehicle to drive off for the day.
