Glasgow Avenges Loss to Class A Glendive

Revenge is sweet, especially when it’s served in doses of three.

The Glasgow Scotties hit seven 3-pointers, four from senior Lane Herbert alone, as they avenge a loss against Glendive at home on Jan. 30 with a 75-59 win.

The win meant a lot for the Scotties as Glasgow fell from the top spot in Class B to No. 3 in the rankings. Glendive is a Class-A opponent and ranked fourth in the Jan. 29 rankings. The win will surely help Glasgow’s cause when the new rankings are released later today.

In the game, Glasgow’s main focus was controlling what post player Bryden Boehning was doing for Glendive.

Braaten was well aware that if Boehning wanted to, he could easily control the paint and the game, so the focus for the Scotties heading into this game was to make sure that Boehning did neither.

Although Boehning did manage to score 17 points for Glendive, he scored a combined total of two points in the second and fourth quarters.

Braaten’s approach and the execution of the game plan by his team paid huge dividends.

The offensive side of the ball is starting to see a recurring theme: get Lane Herbert or Chase Fossum the ball and get out of the way.

With Jason Thibault the floor general for the Scotties, there is little that can be done to prevent that plan of attack from developing.

Thibault was able to find both Herbert and Fossum regularly as the two combined for 49 of the 75 points.

Herbert finished with 25 while Fossum had 24 in a dominant performance from both players.

Glasgow looks to keep rolling as the season nears an end. The Scotties travel to Harlem on Thursday and then host Plentywood on Saturday. The season wraps up on Feb. 15 with a game at home against Poplar.

Once the season comes to an end, the Scotties are expected by many to make a deep run in the postseason.

That run starts at the District 2B tournament which will be held in Malta on Feb. 20-22.

If the Scotties advance further, they'll have a home court advantage at they host the Northern B Divisionals starting Feb. 27.
