Affordable Care Act Answers At Health Fair

Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital has recently trained “Navigators” Terry Reddy and Arleen Archambeault to answer questions on the Affordable Care Act and help uninsured community members sign up for new insurance plans.

Navigators are individuals who have undergone training on the Affordable Care Act and how to educate the public on new health care plans. With assistance from a federal grant, the FMDH navigators are trained to offer in-person assistance to anyone in the area who needs to sign up for health insurance. Navigators also assist the public in preparing applications for insurance and establishing eligibility for certain new plans.

Navigator services are offered free of charge.

Reddy and Archambeault said they are excited to be part of the Affordable Care Act, the Health Insurance Marketplace and being Navigator assisters for this new process. They will be ready available to answer questions from consumers in Valley County about health insurance plans that are affordable.

Oct. 1 marked the opening of the Health Insurance Marketplace where Montanans can compare and sign up for certain private insurance options. Under the act, many uninsured Montanans qualify for special tax credits and lower premiums that make health insurance more affordable.
