Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913

Stanley Soper

Our dearest friend, brother, and uncle, Stanley Frederick Soper aka Stanley Steamer aka Stan the Cement Man passed away Monday, May 20, 2024, in Malta, Mont. He was 79.

To celebrate Stan's remarkable life, two Celebrations of Life will be held. The first gathering will be held Saturday, June 8, beginning at 1 p.m., at the Mint Bar in Malta.

The second gathering will be held Friday, July 5, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the VFW in Glasgow, Mont. A military honors ceremony will be held at the VFW gathering.

No formal funeral will be held.

Stan was the third son born out of six Soper brothers to John Westley and Margaret Elaine (Frisch) Soper. He was born April 30, 1945, in Glasgow. He attended school at Avondale, Larslan, Glasgow, and graduated from Opheim High School in 1965. He attended college in Bozeman, Mont.

He enlisted into the United States Army and served from November of 1966 until June of 1969. He was a Services Crew Chief. He fought in the Vietnam War.

After returning, he lived in the Glasgow and Malta areas for most of his life. He worked for Fossum Ready Mix in Glasgow and Malta Ready Mix in Malta.

Stan was married three times and loved deeply. When asked if he would marry a fourth time, his reply was no - he would just find a woman that hated him and buy her a house.

Anyone who knew Stan, knew he was one of the kindest men.  He had a heart of gold.  Through the years, he enjoyed darts, pool, bowling, fishing, whist, and of course, dancing.  The man could dance!!

Stan was preceded in death by his father; mother; nephews Randy Soper and Wes Soper; and niece Amanda Soper.

Condolences may be left for the family at bellmortuarymontana.com.
