Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
Opheim students put on a Reader's Theater program on April 11, where students were assigned a character and had to act out the plot for those in attendance.
Reader's Theater is a collaborative strategy for developing oral reading fluency through reading parts in scripts. Though students do not need to memorize their part, they do re-read the script several times to build familiarity with the language and have the opportunity to practice the expressions associated with the script.
This program allows students to practice reading aloud, which helps improved with the ability of reading with accuracy, speed and expression. By performing a script, the students not only gain a deeper understanding of what they are reading, but also involves collaboration with other students in order to bring together the script to life.
