Wheatgrass Arts and Gallery Presentation: Folk Music Instruments By Rea

Wheatgrass Arts and Gallery will host a unique presentation by local folk instrument builder James Rea on Friday, March 15, 6:30 p.m.

Rea has been making a variety of mostly American folk instruments for nearly 40 years that includes fretted dulcimers, hammered dulcimers, kanteles, lute-guitars, balalaika and cigar box guitars. Those hand-made instruments are gifts to family and old friends.

He will discuss some of his many instruments, display them and share details of their construction and characteristic features. Local musician Mark Berger will play a few cigar box guitar riffs.
