Glasgow Girls End Season at District Tourney

End Season With 10-10 Record

The Glasgow girls’ basketball season came to an end at the District 2B Tournament in Wolf Point this past weekend with a pair of hard fought games. The Scotties lost an upset to the Wolf Point Wolves 50-46 in double overtime to start the tourney Wednesday. On the back side of the bracket on Friday, Glasgow fell 47-35 to Fairview despite outscoring the Warriors in the third and fourth quarters.

The Scotties established a 13-5 lead after one quarter and padded it to 23-6 by the half. Both teams put up 10 points in the third. Wolf Point fought back hard in the fourth, putting up 19 points while holding Glasgow to 2, sending the game into overtime. The score stood knotted at 41-41 at the end of extra time to send the game to additional time. Wolf Point outscored Glasgow 9-5 to take the 50-46 upset victory.

Joely Chappell, Mayzie Yoakam and Hayden Green were the point scorers for the Scotties. Chappell led the Scotties with 21 points, hitting three from downtown and six free throws. Green scored 14 and Yoakam added 11 points for Glasgow.

In loser-out action, a big second quarter for Fairview propelled them past Glasgow. The Scotties trailed 12-10 heading into the second where the Warriors put up 17 points and held Glasgow to a bucket and two free throws. Glasgow outscored Fairview 8-6 in the third and 13-12 in the fourth but were unable to overcome the first-half deficit.

Yoakam led Glasgow with 16 points, hitting three from beyond the arc. Chappell hit for 11 while Tanae Baker scored 4 points. Fina Page and Kyndall Schraner both added a bucket.

The Scotties lose only Schraner to graduation and look to return a young and now-experienced squad next season.
