Improve to 5-6 Overall, 3-2 Conference Play
The Scottie boys basketball team improved their record to 3-2, 5-6 overall with two home wins this past week. Glasgow downed the Fairview Warriors 51-36 Jan. 18 and beat the Harlem Wildcats 64-54 Jan. 19.
Glasgow took a 12-10 lead after one against Fairview and increased their lead to 10 points at the half, 28-18. The Scotties outscored the Warriors 17-7 in the third and held on for the 51-36 win.
Myles Yoakam paced the Scotties with 14 points. Cade Hudyma added 12, Nick Solorzano 11 and Wyatt Babb 10 points. Toryn Richards connected for 4 points. Babb led in assists with four followed by Yoakam and Hudyma with three each. Richards and Solorzano had two helpers a piece.
Richards and Babb both had three steals in leading Glasgow while Yoakam, Hudyma and Solorzano had one takeaway each. Hudyma led in blocks with three and Connor Hudyma knocked down one Warriors' shot. Babb also led in rebounds with seven followed by Yoakam and Cade Huydma with six each. Connor Hudyma and Solorzano grabbed three boards each and Richards pulled down two rebounds.
Glasgow’s JV team fell 52-47 to the visiting Warriors. Trey Graham and Gage Waarvik led the team with 11 points each. Cash Stulc hit for 9, Andy Hanson 8, Noah Runner 6 and Wyatt Sugg 2 points.
The Scotties came out strong against Harlem the following night, establishing a 19-10 lead after one quarter. The Wildcats put up 18 in the second while holding Glasgow to 13, giving the home team a 32-28 lead at the half. Harlem cut into Glasgow’s lead by a point in the third quarter putting the score at 49-46 heading into the final quarter where the Scotties outscored the Wildcats 15-8.
Babb led the Scotties with 22 points followed closely by Yoakam with 21 points. Cade Hudyma connected for 13 while Solorzano added 4 points. Richards and Connor Hudyma both added a bucket. Richards and Babb both had five assists in leading the Scotties followed by Connor Hudyma with three helpers. Cade Hudyma and Solorzano both had two assists and Yoakam had one. Richards, Yoakam and Babb each had one steal for Glasgow.
Cade Hudyma pulled down 13 rebounds and Babb snagged 12 boards for the Scotties. Connor Hudyma grabbed eight rebounds, Richards seven, Solorzano four and Yoakam two. Cade Hudyma also led in blocks with five followed by Babb with two and Connor Hudyma and Yoakam with one each.
The JV Scotties won their game 58-51 led by Waarvik’s 14 points. Runner scored 10, Hanson 9 and Stulc 7 points in the win. Sugg, Davis Tolzien and Graham scored 6 points a piece.
Glasgow’s C squad also turned in a win, 51-46. Stulc poured in 17 points for the Scotties followed by Gavin Redstone with 13 and Waarvik with 12 points. Gage Larsen scored 4, Drew Simensen 3 and Liam Chapman 2 points.
Glasgow was in Sidney Jan. 23, for C, JV and varsity action but scores were unavailable at press time.
Glasgow hosts Rocky Boy Friday, Jan. 26. The JV boys will play at 3 p.m. in Scottie gymnasium with the C boys teams playing at 4:30 p.m., at the Evangelical Church. JV Girls will play at 4:30 p.m., in Scottie gymnasium followed by varsity girls at 6 p.m., and varsity boys at 7:30 p.m.
The Scotties will be in Wolf Point to take on the Wolves Saturday, Jan. 27 with C, JV and varsity action.
