The Scottie boys basketball team fell to a late-surging Poplar team Jan. 12 by a score of 65-61. The Indians scored 23 in the final quarter while holding Glasgow to 4 points to put the Scotties record at 1-2 in conference play, 3-6 overall.
The visiting Indians held a 16-13 lead after one but Glasgow took control in the second quarter to lead 40-25 at the half. Both teams put up 17 points in the third before Poplar surged in the final quarter.
Cade Hudyma led the Scotties with 22 points followed by Myles Yoakam with 15 and Wyatt Babb with 15 points. Toryn Richards added 4 and Connor Hudyma scored 3 points. Richards led in assists with six while Babb had five. Connor Hudyma, Yoakam, Cade Hudyma and Nicolas Solorzano had two helpers a piece.
Cade Hudyma had two steals and 15 rebounds while Richards, Babb and Solorzano added one takeaway each. Richards and Babb also had 15 rebounds while Yoakam grabbed four and Connor Hudyma three.
The Scottie JV team lost their game 71-61. Noah Runner led the squad with 18 points, followed by Andy Hanson with 16 and Gage Waarvik with 10 points. Cash Stulc hit for 9, Trey Graham 4 and Wyatt Sugg and Davis Tolzien 2 points each.
Glasgow's C squad lost 37-30. Liam Chapman had 8 points in leading the team. Waarvik scored 6 and Tayven Bietz 5 points. Gage Larsen, Drew Simonsen, Kyler Whitman, Gavin Redstone and Tripp Mavity put in 2 a piece while Braxton Potter hit a free throw.
Glasgow hosts the Fairview Warriors for JV and Varsity action Thursday, Jan. 18. Action will begin at 3:30. The Harlem Wildcats will be in town Friday, Jan. 19 for C, JV and Varsity play beginning at 3 p.m.
