Beverly Jean Hancock

Beverly Jean Hancock, nee Canen, 80, of Granite City, Ill., born Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1943, in Sacramento, Calif., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2024, at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Ill.

Visitation was from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 9, at Kurrus Funeral Home in Belleville.

Funeral services was held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 9, at Kurrus Funeral Home, with Reverend Sam Hart officiating. Interment will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Ill.

Beverly attended City Temple in Granite City and worked as a clearing clerk for Bank of America. She was also a member of the Trail Duster's Chapter "E" motorcycle club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Gene Hancock; father Lloyd Allen Canen; mother Dorothy May, nee Young, Canen; two brothers, Leroy Canen and Robert Canen; and fur baby Mittens.

Surviving are her son, Ronald Hancock, of Granite City; daughter Barbara (Kevin) Slayton, of Grandin, Mo .; two brothers, Roger Canen, of Montana, and John Canen, of New York; two sisters, May (Tim) O'Hara, of Washington, and Diana (Robert) Mattox, of Montana; brother-in-law Gary Hancock; grandchildren Erica (Matthew) Stephens, Cassee Coffman, and Alyssa (David Umbaugh) Hancock; great-grandchildren Harper and Lillee; and fur babies Sambo and Oreo.
