Floyd Eugene Hoover

Floyd Eugene Hoover was born July 3, 1928 to Robert Forest Hoover and Mary Alice Tuttle Hoover in Cheraw, Colo. He went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Aug. 3, 2023 at the age of 95.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Aug. 9, at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home, Miles City, Mont., with family receiving friends from 4 to 6 p.m.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Aug. 10, at 11 a.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Eastern Montana State Veterans Cemetery. Following the burial please join the family at the VFW hall for a luncheon.

He grew up on a pig farm where he was raised in the Mennonite church. He attended Cheraw public schools for 12 years. During that time he shoveled coal off of box cars and worked for the Inge company. He left the Mennonite church to serve his country. He served in the Army for 18 months during WWII and the Korean War then returned home to Colorado.

He started working for Smith Ranch in 1949 and worked for them for 46 years. He married Bonnie Marie Jenkins on Nov. 9, 1952. They moved to Montana in 1959 to continue working for Smith Cattle Company. After retiring from Smith Livestock he worked for Ray Jerrel and ran a mail route

for Pat McKenzie. Up until his passing he continued to work outside assisting with haying, yard work and gardening.

He loved his family (kids, grandkids, great grandkids) all alike. When given a task he would put his all into it, like serving on the school board. He loved the outdoors and horses. He loved to play cards and if he could get "your goat" he would. He loved to watch football, especially the Green Bay Packers.

He is survived by his wife Bonnie of 70 plus years; sister Sarah Wilson; two brother-in-laws, Bill (Marlyn) Jenkins and John (Judy) Jenkins; his children, daughter Sheryl Whitney (Dwayne), of Miles City, son Bruce Hoover, of Miles City, son Keith (Barb), Hoover of Ismay, Mont., daughter Jenifer Villeneauve, of Glasgow, Mont., and daughter Julie (RJ) Hubbard, of St. Marie, Mont .; grandchildren Josh, Seth (Casey), Tessa Whitney. Terry (Ann) Nass, Michelle Berry, Cactus (Mike) Steelman, Autumn (Layne) Murnion. Kayla (Joe) Kiel, Jeremy (Brittany) Hoover. Greg Villeneauve; and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
