Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913

Helen P. Heck

Helen P. Heck passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 26, at the age of 95 surrounded by her daughters.

Helen was a U.S. Postmaster. She worked for many years in Glentana, Mont., and then ended her career at Opheim, Mont. Helen entered a contest with the USPO in which they were asked to submit ideas to help the PO run more efficiently. Helen submitted a suggestion to have "sticky stamps." She won top prize of $75.00! Helen made dozens of rubber stamps and donated the money to the special education community. She was a talented painter, seamstress and cooked some delicious meals she would drive out to the field to feed her husband Clif and whichever children were helping in the field at that time.

Helen and Clif were married on January 31, 1948. They moved to Glentana in 1956 and raised five children. They celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary before Clif passed away in March, 2022. Clif and Helen retired in Las Vegas, Nev. They enjoyed the casinos, playing Bingo, poker machines and Black Jack. They especially enjoyed the weather – enough of Montana winters for them! They were both very lucky! They moved to Burnsville, Minn., in 2019 and lived with their daughter Pam.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband Clif, son Rick, grandson Damon, brothers Herb, Walt, Bob and sisters Lucille, Harriet and Justine.

She is survived by: daughter-in-law Julie Heck; four daughters, Sheri (Mike) Tarr, Pam Reiher, Bobi (Doug) Irving and Linda (Tom) Ploof; as well as 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Helen and Clif were the end of an era! They will be deeply missed by their family and friends.
