Over Two Dozen Local Youth Star In Fort Peck Summer Theatre's 'Matilda'

Winner of nearly 50 international awards and based on the beloved novel by fantastical genius Roald Dahl (Willy Wonka), this captivating modern masterpiece follows young Matilda. Surrounded by larger-than-life characters, her powerful imagination transforms into magical powers and inspirational dreams as she searches for a better life. A new film adaptation of the musical, starring Emma Thompson, was released in December 2022.

Local youth McKay Yoakam stars as Matilda, alongside a host of other local youth performers including Gwen Turner (as Matilda's best friend Lavender), Ian Anderson (as Eric), Felixe Becker (as Bruce), Ava Budde (as Hortensia) Joel Guttenberg (as Nigel), Arrow Henry (as Prudence), Henry Holte (as Rupert), Anna Matejovsky (as Tommi), Kinley Overbey (as Amanda), Sabra Sims (as Beatrice), and Harper Wesen (as Alice), plus Isla Belakjon, MacKenzie Bigelbach, Bryten Avery Clark, Codi Donniaquo, Eva Hlad, McKitterick Markle, Caith Overbey, Lyndsey Plummer, Fallon Pinder, Tommi Prewett, Gabriel Proctor, Mylee Rasmusan, Jayli Roller, Aubry Salvevold, Annika Smith, Willow Sugg, Chase Tarum and Tanner White.

Glasgow native Alexa Etchart returns as Miss Honey.

Matilda is directed by Joseph Martinez (artistic director of Missoula Childrens Theatre) with co-musical directors Alicia Bullock-Muth and Luree Chappell-Green.

Making his FPST debut, Danny Durr serves as choreographer and plays Mrs. Wormwood. Durr works at such theatres as Post Playhouse, Arizona Broadway Theatre, Millbrook Playhouse, The Cumberland Theatre, The Wick Theatre, Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre, Stage Door Theatre, and New Bedford Festival. He's also a resident choreographer for Norwegian Creative Studios, as well as a teaching artist for Inside Broadway in New York. Danny choreographed the 2021/2022 National Tour of A Christmas Carol.

Matilda runs July 7 through July 23: Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 4 p.m.
