Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913

Paul John Aune

Paul John Aune, husband to Penelope "Penny" and father to Steven, Danny, Larry, and Todd, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2023. Paul was born on April 1, 1935, in Hendricks, Minn.

A service of remembrance will be held at the First Lutheran Church in Glasgow, Mont., on Friday, June 16, at 11 a.m. Lunch will be served following the service.

Paul and Penny would have been married 69 years this August and their love story is one of fun, laughter, tears, struggle, and partnership. Along with an enduring marriage, Paul was a card-carrying bricklayer for 69 years. Paul used to wonder aloud to Penny about not having an impact in the Glasgow community and that he should have done more. Well, if you live in Glasgow or have driven across Montana, you likely have driven by a brick, stone, or block building that Paul was a part of building – that was Paul's impact. Paul was first and foremost a craftsman who was second to none. He expected the same from all that worked for him and around him.

Paul and Penny started Aune Masonry in 1979. Paul, Penny, and Todd worked side by side in Aune Masonry for over 30 years until Todd bought the business. The legacy of his work and business is carried on with his son Todd and more recently his grandson, Jacob.

Most who knew Paul in his younger years raising his boys with Penny would describe him as fun-loving, supportive of his boys in sports, and having a strong work ethic that he and Penny passed onto their boys. Paul and Penny were active members of the First Lutheran Church in Glasgow. They supported youth activities and were active attendees of their kids and grandkids' sporting events. Go Scotties!

Those who may have known Paul in these later years would unknowingly get to experience the impacts of Dementia/Alzheimer's and the change in personality that accompanies this cruel illness. Paul will be missed by his family, and we all agree he will be running some construction job in heaven.

Paul is proceeded in death by his parents and his seven siblings.

Paul is survived by his wife, Penny; sons, Steven (Eva), of Arizona, Danny (Michelle), of Bozeman, Mont., Larry (Susan), of Houston, Texas, and Todd (Amy), of Glasgow. In addition, 14 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to: First Lutheran Church of Glasgow Youth & Education Programs (FLC Preschool and Bible Camps).

Condolences may be left for the family at bellmortuarymontana.com.
