Glasgow's Phillips Ends Collegiate Career On A High

Glasgow's Benji Phillips has had a very successful week, ending his collegiate track and field career at North Dakota State University (NDSU). He represented NDSU at the NCAA Outdoor Championship on June 7 and was the highest finishing Bison, taking 16th place in the javelin with a throw of 227-3 (69.26m). His placement earned second team All-America honors, the second of his career achieving first team All-American in Javelin in 2021. Phillips also ended his career at number two in NDSU history for the javelin.

In addition to these accolades, Phillips won the NCAA Elite 90 Award for the highest cumulative grade point average in NCAA Track and Field with his 4.0 cumulative grade point average in his major of psychology and exercise science. This is Phillips' second time in his career to win this award.

The NCAA created the award in 2009 for all sports, and Phillips is only the fifth NDSU Bison athlete in school history to win the award multiple times. Phillips is the eighth NDSU athlete to win the Elite 90 since 2021 and the 20th Elite 90 winner in NDSU history.

Up next for Phillips is training for another Olympic Trials run in 2024.
