Scottie Softball Enters Postseason

The Scottie softball squad went 2-3 in their last week of regular season play of the 2023 season. Glasgow shut out Sidney at home May 9 for senior night. They went 1-3 at the East/West Challenge in Cut Bank Friday and Saturday. The Scotties lost to Ennis 16-5 and Mission/Arlo/Charlo (MAC) 14-3. They rebounded to defeat Thompson Falls 7-4 before closing out the weekend with a 15-13 loss to Eureka.

Glasgow finished the regular season with a 9-11 overall record. They enter the Eastern B/C Divisional Tournament this weekend as the number four seed. The Scotties start the tournament at Stewart Park in Billings Thursday, May 18, at 9 a.m. against Conrad. The tournament runs Friday and Saturday, May 18-19.

The Scotties started the week Tuesday with a dominant win over Sidney. Glasgow put up one run in the first, four in the second, three in the third and another three in the fourth all while shutting out the Eagles to end the game early.

Daley Aune and Brielle Partridge pitched for Glasgow with Aune notching the win in three innings. She gave up no hits while striking out two Eagles. Partridge, in two innings, gave up three hits with one strikeout. Aune had a hit and one run on the other side of the plate while Partridge had a hit, an RBI and one run.

Berkley Hillman led at the plate with three hits, two RBIs, two runs and a stolen base. Alexis Murdock had two hits with a double, two RBIs and two runs. Stevie Hartwell added two hits, two RBIs, two runs and a stolen base while Carly Nelson had two hits, an RBI and a run. Macy Martin notched a hit, two runs and a stolen base. Tatum Nyquist put up a hit with two RBIs.

Glasgow's first game in Cut Bank ended in a loss to Ennis. Ennis went up 4-3 after one. They held the Scotties to a single run in the third and fourth innings while running up their score to 16 after six innings.

Aune and Partridge spent the game in the pitcher's circle. Aune gave up 11 hits and nine earned runs with two strikeouts in three innings. Partridge, in at relief, gave up 12 hits and seven earned runs with two strikeouts.

Aune, at bat, had two hits with a home run and an RBI, scoring twice. Ashlee Meland scored twice, adding two hits and a stolen base. Nelson had two hits with an RBI while Martin connected twice at bat. Nyquist added one hit, an RBI and a run while Partridge sent one runner home.

The Scotties' next game was against a tough MAC team. The game ended after three innings when MAC scored 13 times in the bottom of the third after keeping the Scotties off the scoreboard. Aune, Partridge and Martin had one hit each for Glasgow.

Glasgow came back the next day to defeat Thompson Falls 7-4. Aune went the full seven innings in the circle, giving up nine hits and two earned runs while striking out seven. She went 4-for-4 at bat with two home runs, four RBIs, two runs and two stolen bases.

Hartwell had two doubles and an RBI while scoring twice. Partridge added two hits with one run and Nelson had a double with an RBI. Hayden Green notched two hits. Martin had a hit, an RBI, one run and two stolen bases while Halle Hunter scored once for the Scotties.

Glasgow took their last game against Eureka to the seventh inning but found themselves down by two runs. Aune started the game in the circle, going two innings. She gave up six hits and one earned run while striking out one. Meland finished the game for the Scotties, giving up seven hits and five earned runs while striking out two over four innings. Aune had three hits with a triple, a double, two runs and three RBIs with two stolen bases while Meland had two hits with two scores and a stolen base on the other side of the plate.

Nyquist added three hits with a double, three RBIs and a run. Hartwell and Hillman each had two hits, an RBI, one run and a stolen base. Murdock added a hit with two runs while Partridge had a hit and RBI. Green connected once, Nelson sent one runner home and Martin scored once.
