Night Of Hope Raises Funds For HOPE Project

Valley County HOPE (Helping Others Pay Expenses) Project hosted their Night of Hope on April 28, at St. Raphael's Church in Glasgow. Approximately 65 people sampled food from all over the world but cooked from local chefs. Food options included Pakistan, cooked by Zak, Lindsey and Sheila Peterson, Filipino, cooked by Phoebe Schaack and Rose Kolstad, Sri Lankan, cooked by Darlis Nordhagen, of North of Nowhere Farm, Italian and Cajun, cooked by Judy Hagenau and family, German, cooked by Cindy Swanson, American BBQ, cooked by Sam and Judy Waters, of Smoke On The Waters BBQ, as well as homemade cupcakes, baked by Joan Burris, of Sinful Sweets, and a salad bar prepared by Roubie Younkin.

The event, which required a $30 ticket to attend, brought in $2,420 to the project.

In 2022, Valley County HOPE Project gave $30,000 worth of assistance to help 30 Valley County residents with expenses due to medical conditions that add financial stress. Donations and fundraiser events, such as Night of Hope, is the group's only source of income.

"We are thankful for the support and want to stress the importance of replenishing our available funds," stated Darla Larson, a HOPE Project committee member.

The committee stated there are plans in the works to host the event again in April and are looking forward to having more cooks and committee members attend.
