City Of Glasgow Asking Residents To Return Lead Service Line Test Forms

Glasgow Public Works would like to notify City of Glasgow residents and businesses that a new Environmental Protection Agency regulation requires the City Public Water Supply to develop an inventory of all water service line types in the City of Glasgow.

The inventory efforts are intended to identify lead service lines. On Jan. 18, the City Water Department mailed each water customer a service line test form with instructions on how to conduct the test and respond.

The City asks that you take 15 minutes to conduct the test and return the completed form to the City as instructed on the form you will be receiving. It is very important for citizens to respond so that the City is able to maintain compliance with the new EPA regulation.

Your response may enable the City to obtain funding to replace identified lead service lines under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (AKA Bipartisan Infrastructure Law) and/or influence our drinking water testing program required under the new EPA rule.

The City of Glasgow has set a deadline of Friday, March 31, to return each test form. To date, 750 out of 1,500 forms have been returned to the city.

If your form isn’t returned to the city by March 31, employees of the City of Glasgow will be contacting homeowners to arrange a city employee to conduct the test.

For more information contact the City of Glasgow at 228-2476.
