Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913

From the Sports Desk

Sports fans and readers, the time has come for me to finally take a vacation. I will be out of the office for an extended period which means I will be leaving my friend and boss, Michelle Bigelbach, as the only working reporter at The Glasgow Courier.

So, if you’ve ever wanted to try your hand at sports reporting on your local teams, now is your chance. We welcome your sports story submissions as track & field, golf and softball (hopefully, weather-permitting), kick off soon. Photo submissions are also welcome. Please help us keep all of our Valley County athletes covered!

Before I jet off into the wild blue yonder, let me share a few thank yous.

Thank you to the student athletes, coaches and programs that have kept me busy these past couple years as the sports reporter. Regardless of win records, I’ve enjoyed every competition I’ve attended, from first practices to postseason runs. Thank you especially to the coaches and activities directors for providing me the stats and information necessary for my stories. Thank you to all the photographers out there who have contributed for events I’ve been unable to get to, and for front page coverage.

Thank you Stan, Derek, Eli and the whole team at KLTZ/Mix-93 for your live coverage. You put in the work all season, every season and that is reflected in your product. From top to bottom, your play-by-play calls and color commentary are the best.

Thank you to my co-workers Michelle and Terry. I could not do this without you. I hope you can do this without me for the next month (I know you will, one way or another). Please readers, help them out with story and photo submissions!

Good luck spring athletes and coaches. I’ll be back (too) soon to cover you.

~Gwendolyne
