Lustre Boys 16-0

The Lustre Christian boys basketball team continues to roll through the season undefeated. The Lions defeated the Frazer Bearcubs 77-12 at home Saturday to improve to 8-0, 16-0 overall.

Lustre wasted no time in establishing their lead, putting up 26 in the first quarter while holding Frazer to 7 points. The Lions shut out the Bearcubs in the second while burning up the nets with 31 points for a 57-7 lead at the half. Frazer hit a three-pointer in the third quarter but Lustre added 13 to the home side of the scoreboard and outscored Frazer 7-2 in the final eight minutes.

The Lions grabbed 34 rebounds, 16 offensive and 18 defensive, with 16 assists and 23 steals with 56.0 percent free throw shooting.

Braden Ewing posted a double-double for Lustre with 10 rebounds and 10 points, leading a balanced scoring sheet for the Lions. Cayden Klatt scored 8 with a three-pointer and 1-for-1 shooting at the free throw line. Clay Reddig, Prestyn Klatt, Cam Reddig, Alex Chen and Terran Joseph all hit for 7 points. P. Klatt, Cam Reddig, Chen and Joseph all hit a shot from downtown while Cl. Reddig hit 3-of-4 and Chen hit 2-of-4 free throws. Bryan Chen, Byron Ewing, Nathan Fast and Jasiah Hambira each hit two buckets for 4 points a piece. Deik Olfert and Johnslee Pierre both added 3 with 1-for-2 showings at the line. Elijah Lenihan added a basket for 2 points.

Lustre Christian held their fouls to five, two in the second half, while Frazer had 15, three after halftime. Br. Ewing was called for two while C. Klatt, Pierre and Fast drew one whistle each.

Lustre closes out their regular season this week with games against North Country and Dodson. The Lions host the Mavericks Friday, Feb. 10. The girls JV teams will play a half-game at 4 p.m. followed by a boys JV half-game at 5 p.m. Girls varsity tips off at 6 p.m. with the boys varsity teams hitting the hardwood at 7:30 p.m. They travel to Dodson Saturday, Feb. 11, for a boys JV half-game at 3 p.m., a girls varsity game at 4 p.m. and a boys varsity game at 5:30 p.m. against the Coyotes.
