LC Girls 0-2 On The Week

The Lustre Christian girls basketball team dropped both their games last week. The Lions lost a 41-22 conference game to the Spartans at home last Tuesday and dropped a 55-39 non-conference contest to the Bulldogs in Bainville Friday night. Lustre holds the third slot in District 3C with a 3-4, 4-11 overall record.

Lustre found themselves trailing 12-7 at the end of the first against Scobey and down 25-12 at the half. The Lions were outscored 9-6 in the third and 7-4 in the final eight minutes.

Alexa Reddig led the team with 13 points, including a three-pointer. Aubri Holzrichter put up 7 with a trey and Hannah Brown added a bucket.

Lustre held their fouls to 10, split evenly between the halves, while Scobey had 12, also split evenly. Brown fouled out of the game and Holzrichter had three fouls. Abby Olfert and Reddig each drew a whistle.

Opheim’s Carrie Taylor scored 7 points with a trey and had one foul in captaining the Spartans.

Lustre found more offense against Bainville Friday, hitting eight shots from beyond the arc and turning in an 18-point fourth quarter, but still found themselves on the wrong side of the 55-39 final score.

The Bulldogs led 11-4 after one and 23-12 at the half. Lustre was outscored by a point, 10-9, in the fourth. The Lions hit four treys in the fourth quarter on their way to 18 points, but the home team scored 22 in the same frame.

Reddig led all scorers with 18 points, hitting two treys and 4-of-6 free throws. Olfert hit two three-pointers for 6 points and Grace Brown scored 5 with a trey and a 2-for-3 showing at the line. H. Brown also hit from downtown and sank 1-of-2 free throws. Lauryn Holzrichter and A. Holzrichter both drained a three-pointer. Lustre shot 63.6 percent from the line.

Bainville had 14 fouls, nine in the second half, while Lustre was called for 13, six in the second half. A. Holzrichter fouled out while G. Brown had four fouls. Olfert drew two whistles while Reddig and H. Brown had one foul each.

The Lions welcome the Glasgow Scottie C teams to town Friday, Feb. 3, for a 5 p.m. girls game and a 6:30 p.m. boys game.

Lustre Christian has only one conference match-up this week, hosting the Frazer Bearcubs Saturday, Feb. 4. The girls varsity game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. followed by the boys varsity game at 7 p.m.
