Frazer Girls Fend Off Brockton

Frazer's girls basketball team fended off a fourth-quarter surge by the visiting Brockton Warriors Friday night to post a 49-46 non-conference win. The Bearcubs now hold a 1-4, 4-7 overall, record.

The visiting Warriors held a 10-6 lead at the end of the first but the Bearcubs defended their home court with a 14-point second quarter showing to tie the game at 20-20 at the half. After the break, Frazer hit three shots from downtown and put up 19 total points in the third while holding Brockton to 6 points. The Bearcubs ran into foul trouble in the fourth, giving up 9-of-18 free throws to the Warriors as Brockton outpaced Frazer 20-10 in the final eight minutes.

Baily Beston led all scorers with 28 points with a solid inside game. She also drained 6-of-7 free throws. Isabelle Even hit 1-of-5 bonus shots and a trey in scoring 8 points. Angel Nelligan had 5 with a three-pointer. Liana Jackson and Leigha Smoker both hit a shot from downtown.

Frazer ran up 24 fouls while Brockton had 16 total. Jackson and Audrey Smoker both fouled out of the game while Even and Nelligan each had four infractions. Beston drew threw whistles, Angeline White two and L. Smoker one.

This week Frazer hosts MonDak Thursday, Feb. 2. The girls varsity teams tip off at 5 p.m. followed by the boys varsity game at 6:30 p.m.

The Nashua Porcupines will be in Frazer Friday, Feb. 3, for Retro Bearcub Night and a 5:30 p.m. girls varsity game and a 7 p.m. boys varsity game. The Bearcubs travel to Lustre Saturday, Feb. 3, for a 5:30 p.m girls varsity game and a 7 p.m. boys varsity game.
