Nashua’s girls basketball team dropped two conference games this past week while being down a starter. Kaitlyn Miller is out with an injury, leaving the Porcupines’ roster short. Nashua lost a 34-25 match to Dodson at home Jan. 10 and fell 57-14 to Scobey on the road Jan. 13.
Nashua led 5-3 after one quarter against Dodson, before being outscored in each of the remaining quarters. The score stood knotted at 11 at the half before Dodson put up 9 in the third while holding Nashua to 4 points. The Porcupines put up 10 in the final eight minutes but the Coyotes outdid them with 14 points.
Tia Dees led Nashua with 17 points, going 3-for-7 at the free throw line. Guinevere Abern added 4 with a three-pointer and a free throw. Gracyn Sibley and Madison Harris each hit a bucket.
Dodson had 10 fouls, seven in the second half, while Nashua had 14 total, 10 in the second.
Dees fouled out while Harris had three fouls. Abern and Sibley drew two whistles each while Katy Dykstra and Alexis Murdock had a foul a piece.
No stats were available for Nashua’s game in Scobey.
Nashua hosts Lustre Christian Thursday, Jan. 19. A girls JV half-game kicks off the evening at 4 p.m., followed by a boys JV half-game at 5 p.m. The varsity girls tip off at 6 p.m. with the boys varsity concluding the night with a 7:30 p.m. game. The Porcupines travel to Lambert Friday, Jan. 20, for a boys JV half-game at 5 p.m. followed by the girls varsity at 6 p.m. and boys varsity at 7:30 p.m.
