Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913

Celebrating Safely

SAR and Local Entities Give Rides On New Years

In what has become a yearly service offered by Valley County Search and Rescue, Fire Department and local wrecker services since Alvie Hallock founded the ride share program in the 1980s, five volunteers took time out of celebrating New Years with their family and friends to offer rides through Glasgow, Nashua and the Fort Peck area to ensure those who are celebrating make it home safely.

Volunteers covering the Glasgow area included Search and Rescue's as well as Fire's Randy Isakson, who gave 48 rides, Search and Rescue's Shyanne Whiskey Isakson, who gave 51 rides, Search and Rescue's Bryce Lawrence, who gave nine rides and Thompson and Son’s Jonathan Jacka who gave five rides. Search and Rescue's Stone Tihista covered the Nashua and Fort Peck area, and she gave four rides. In addition to volunteering their time, they also volunteered their vehicles.

According to Valley County Sheriff Tom Boyer, there was an accident that occurred on Dec. 31, 8 p.m., that resulted in a DUI, however other than this incident, nothing else occurred into New Year’s Day. The rides provided by the volunteers certainly made it a quiet and safer holiday.

As a result of the volunteers and the ride share program, the Valley County DUI Task Force once again donated $500 to Valley County Search and Rescue for their efforts.

“It makes volunteering easier when people use the service and get home safe!,” stated the Valley County Search and Rescue in their press release.
