Lustre Girls Fall in Scobey

The Lustre Christian girls basketball team traveled to Scobey Dec. 20 for their final game before the holiday break. The Lions fell to the Spartans 51-30.

Lustre trailed 11-5 at the end of the first. At the half Scobey led by 12 points, 26-14. The Spartans increased their lead to 15 points at the end of the third, 36-15, and outscored the Lions 15-9 in the final eight minutes of play.

Aubri Holzrichter poured in 17 points to lead the Lions, including three from downtown. Alexa Reddig scored 9 points, going 1-for-2 on bonus shots while Grace Brown added 4 with a bucket and 2-of-4 shooting at the stripe.

The Spartans were called for 13 fouls in the game, six in the second half, while Lustre Christian held their infractions to nine, eight in the second half.

Brown fouled out while Reddig and Hannah Brown were called for two fouls each.

Opheim's Carrie Taylor, captain of the Spartans, scored 7 points with 3-of-4 shooting at the line. She was called for one foul.

The Lions return to the hardwood Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023, in Frazer. The girls varsity team tips off at 5:30 p.m. followed by the boys varsity game at 7 p.m.
