Nashua Boys Win Two at Home

Nashua's boys basketball team posted two wins this past weekend at home. The Porcupines defeated the Glasgow JV team 48-32 Friday after a strong second half and downed Wibaux 60-48 Saturday.

Nashua and Glasgow were knotted 12-12 at the end of the first and the Scotties led 23-17 at the half Friday. The Porcupines outscored the Scotties 11-2 in the third to carry a 30-25 lead into the final quarter. Nashua lit the nets up with 20 points in the last eight minutes while holding Glasgow to 9 points.

Kevan Viste led Nashua with 17 points, including three shots from downtown. Caden Laumeyer added 11 points while Xander Pugh and Grady Nielsen each connected for 8 points. Damon Adkins and Bubba Pugh each hit a field goal.

Nashua had 12 fouls, five in the second half. Viste and Laumeyer each had three fouls, Nielsen and X. Pugh two, and Adkins and B. Pugh one each.

Saturday, Nashua established a 19-12 lead after one and padded their lead to 29-20 at the half. Wibaux outscored Nashua 15-13 in the third but the Porcupines struck back in the fourth with 18 points while holding Wibaux to 13.

X. Pugh poured in 27 points, hitting six long-range shots. Nielsen hit for 14 points, going 6-for-9 at the line. Laumeyer also hit double digits with 10 points and Viste hit three treys for 9 points.

The Porcupines had 13 fouls, nine in the second half. Adkins and Viste were each called for four. Nielsen and Laumeyer drew two whistles a piece and X. Pugh had one infraction.

Nashua travels to Hinsdale to play the North Country Mavericks Thursday, Dec. 15, with games at 3:30, 5, 6 and 7:30 p.m. The Porcupines will play the Lions at Lustre Friday, Dec. 16, for games at 4:30, 6 and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, they host the Dodson Coyotes with games at 4:30, 6 and 7:30 p.m.
